If sometimes it seems that time flows too fast, just stop for a moment and think about the single events you have lived in order to have a completely different perception. So, if you reflect upon six harvests, you may think of a recurring appointment that never changes. However, when you taste the “results”, you will understand how each year is unique and unrepeatable.
Today, this story is told by Càlinos, the first vertical of Franciacorta Brut Ronco Calino, which is going to make you travel slowly through six harvests, from season to season, underlining the special taste of every year.
The “oldest” of the group is the vintage 1997, which is matured on the lees for 162 months before seeing the light. For more than 13 years, it expertly blended the features of the dry spring and the not-too-hot summer of 1997. Well aware of being a “good year”, it patiently rested to give the best of itself and today this Franciacorta Brut appears as an elegant and perfectly balanced wine with a great structure.
Same destiny for the year 1998 which, thanks to its 150 months of meditation, forgot the damages of a strong hailstorm and was able to come out well-spirited, with the compact and fine foam that is very suitable to such a noble wine.
However, the most meteorologically balanced was the year 1999 that gave birth to a very lively wine full of aromas.
The year 2000 – that was characterized by dry and windy hot periods – offers a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity, and the wine, after 126 months, is powerful, warm and with a good acidity.
After 114 months on the lees, the Franciacorta Brut 2001 appears elegant and full-bodied because it blended the low temperatures of that year and the rains of the first part of the year with the heat and drought of the few months just before the harvest. Today it is soft but really important and solid.
The vintage 2003 closes this excellent parade as the “mascot” of the group. Young with “only” 90 months of ageing, it is exuberant, fruity and with a good acidity. Daughter of a particularly hot summer, it was shaped from grapes of excellent quality with a high content of sugar and now it is very proud to release hints of ripe fruit and an intense yellow colour.
A team full of taste, of stories to tell if you will be able to enjoy them quietly and to listen to everything they have to say.
“We are really proud of Càlinos.” – says Paolo Radici, owner of Ronco Calino – “We started producing for passion and today, after more than 20 years of hard work, I would say that this goal has certainly been achieved thanks to the efforts and professionalism of all my co-workers, but also due to the initial dose of enthusiasm that still moves the whole team.
I am convinced that passion is the key to excellence and the proof is in this selection of six vintages: an exclusive and precious collection of six different bouquets combined by the taste of passion.”
